General safety rules and regulations

Students are required to wear collared shirt or t-shirt with full-length trousers. Students are not allowed to wear loose-sleeved clothing and jewellery. Also, students should mot use compressed air to clean their clothing. Covered shoes are to be worn at all time without open tops or open toes. For students with long hair, they are required to tie their hair up to avoid entanglement with rotating machinery. Eating and drinking are not allows in laboratories and workshops. Phones are to switch off while working in laboratories and workshops.

Incase of emergency, one can call 995 for the ambulance and SCDF. Call 999 for police. For all emergencies and incident reporting call SP emergency hotline 6772-1234. When one is making emergency call, it is essential to give precise imformation such as the name of caller, location (block and room number) and nature of emergency, e.g. fire, explotion, violent or abusive behaviour.

It is important to report all work related injuries, no matter ho minor, promptly to technical support staff or supervising staff. Contact the school's general office, 67721206 or call 67721234 when treatment to injury is required. Do not leave injury unattended or without treatment.

Types of mechanical hazards due to machinery motions are, entanglement hazards, cutting hazards, impact hazards, shearing hazards, crushing hazards, draw-in hazards and friction and abrasion hazards.
